About the new qualficication for real estate.
NEW ESTATE AGENT [Interns]
All new estate agents entering the estate agency profession for the first time as from:[the effective date] 15 July 2008 - must serve a compulsory one-year internship [continuous period of 12 months] working under the active supervision and control of a principal estate agent, or full status estate agent, who must have at least three years practical experience.
An intern estate agent must also complete the Further Education and Training Certificate: Real Estate, NQF level 4 - SAQA Qualification 59097 - this is best done through: Full Training program - [Class Room Training] - consists of: 6 contact sessions which last for between 3 & 5 days per contact session, over a period of approximately six months with intervals of about 4 weeks between each contact session. After completion of each contact session, candidates need to complete assignments to be handed in on the first day of the next contact session. These assignments form building blocks for the completion of the Portfolio of Evidence [PoE]
PRACTICING ESTATE AGENTS [Non Principal] and [Principal]
All estate agents who were already practicing and registered with the EAAB on the effective date 15 July 2008 and wish to obtain:
a. the Qualification 59097 Further Education and Training Certificate: Real FETC NQF level 4 [for Non-principal] estate agents OR b. the Qualification 20188 National Certificate: Real Estate NQF level 5 [for Principal] estate agents
Through either [1] OR [2] ........
1. Recognition of Prior Learning [RPL] - [Own Study] - which consists of : a 3-day workshop with the main aim to assist the candidate in following the procedure to compile a PoE [Portfolio of Evidence] through self-study and personal research or own knowledge gained through experience and former study.
OR:
2. The Full Training program - [Class Room Training] - which consists of: 6 contact sessions which last for between 3 & 5 days per contact session, over a period of approximately six months with intervals of about 4 weeks between each contact session. After completion of each contact session, candidates need to complete assignments to be handed in on the first day of the next contact session. These assignments form building blocks for the completion of the final PoE. The difference between [1] and [2] above is essentially: own study vs class room training
